Max Verstappen, Red Bull driver and four-time reigning world champion, reacted angrily when a reporter asked if his dispute with Mercedes driver George Russell in the Spanish Grand Prix had cost him a fifth consecutive title. Verstappen won the award for the most wins in a season (8 races) at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi but finished the season two points behind champion Lando Norris. The Dutchman congratulated his rival with sporting spirit but became upset when questioned about the incident. Verstappen had been penalized in June for forcing Russell off the track in Barcelona, which resulted in him being demoted from 5th to 10th place and a loss of 9 points.
